An upgrade of television life over the past forty years.
Paul Bryan, Loughborough University
The film promotes an improvement of quality in Panasonic equipment, representing how products have developed and upgraded over the past forty years. I wanted to illustrate how Panasonic TVs have improved in quality, screen definition and as an overall package. The advert develops from old to new and expresses the different qualities the G10 series has to offer. To demonstrate the change in definition from old to new I wanted to create the film in the style of an eye exam, as if looking through a phoropter. Used by opticians, a phoropter tests the refraction of the eye by changing lens until vision is perfect. With a mixture of stop frame animation and film I have used the mechanical movement of a phoropter's lens change to transition the footage together. Together the footage expresses an enhancement in home entertainment and promotes the new Panasonic Viera NEOPDP not just as a Television but as a complete HD hub.
